Job Type: Part-time, short-term contract

Location: Nelson, Castlegar and surrounding area – BC

Availability Dates: March 1 – October 31, 2026

Pay Rate: $20/hour + Mileage

Summerhill is dedicated to developing, implementing, and managing public engagement and market transformation programs that lead to measurable improvements in energy savings. We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual passionate about energy efficiency to join our team as a Retail Compliance Representative.

This role supports FortisBC's Retail Rebates Campaign, ensuring compliance at select retail locations throughout the program period. The Retail Rebates Campaign, runs from March 1 to October 31, 2026, and are promoted in stores at select retailers in Nelson, Castlegar, and the surrounding area. The Retail Compliance Representative will be responsible for ensuring that designated retail locations are compliant with Summerhill's standards and will report accordingly.

Job Responsibilities

  • Travel to designated locations to ensure retailers are compliant with program specifications

  • Check signage and displays

  • Notify retailers of necessary changes to ensure program and client needs are met

  • Submit retailer compliance reports to the Program Manager as needed and on time

  • Receive event materials and return to Summerhill at the end of the program

  • Complete paid training online and webinar

Job Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written skills in English

  • Flexible schedule to accommodate in-store visits

  • Self-motivated with a high level of reliability

  • Detail Oriented

  • Able to work independently, multi-task and self-manage

  • Demonstrate a friendly and professional manner and appearance

  • Ability to use Microsoft Windows, Email, Google Maps, and Internet applications

  • Possess a smartphone with a data plan (reps will be compensated for data usage for reporting)

  • Demonstrate a friendly and professional manner and appearance

  • Experience in merchandising is considered an asset

  • Education and/or experience in energy efficiency or related field – considered an asset

  • Access to a reliable car with a valid driver's license and provide proof of insurance

  • Familiarity with Google Maps and route mapping software

Working Conditions

  • Occasional heavy lifting required, up to 45 lbs.
