Reporting to the Application Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for the safe execution of field service appointments of basic to moderate complexity. The technician is responsible for researching the case, preparing, and carrying out the field service, and post service activities. Field service coordination to be performed on a rotational basis.

As a Field Service Technician You Will

  • Perform field service as required. Familiarity with wiring and ability to test/troubleshoot electrical circuits is a definite asset
  • Identify and develop solutions to problems found in the field. A strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety is critical
  • Issue field service reports within 48 hours of project completion.
  • Gathers parts, tools, and equipment for field service. Verifies quality and accuracy of these components and ship to appropriate venue.
  • Research job requirements and methods. Plans for alternative solutions and unexpected obstacles during field support.
  • Inform customers of the scope of work in advance, identifying any discrepancies.
  • Arrange your own travel, according to G&W policies.
  • Conduct and document job safety briefing with customer and/or contractor.
  • Complete trip reports and follow up action items and communicates those to the customer in a timely manner.
  • Arranges for return & disposition of parts, tools and equipment to the factory after service.
  • Verifies functionality of equipment and initiates repairs to bring to like new condition for next service.
  • Takes ownership of technical inquiry cases as a secondary function or at the request of the product support specialists.
  • When not traveling, you will aid in the day-to-day operation of the technical support functions by answering phones and responding to technical support emails.
  • Conduct tests, record data, analyze test results and prepare written reports detailing results of test.
  • Provide rotational support of field service coordination adhering to the below duties:

  • Assumes project management and case assignment responsibility in Sales Force for all field service requests; ensures appropriate information is provided to deploy and scope project, including upgrade/retrofit projects.

  • Coordinates cross functional teams as needed to effectively resolve cases
  • Prepares field service quotations, including labour, expenses and materials. Develops and maintains the field service schedule of personnel and equipment and records in Sales Force to ensure deadlines and customer satisfaction
  • Determines need, arranges for 3rd party field service providers or sub-contracted services and equipment to accompany servicing project

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Technical Certificate or Diploma in Electronics, Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent disciplines or equivalent mix of relevant education with proven Field Services experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of technical, business, engineering experience with preference given to candidates exposed to repair and/or maintenance of instrumentation and medium voltage class power equipment
  • Highly effective communication skills required to influence at all levels inside and outside of the organization
  • Ability to develop strong business relationships and work with all levels of staff, specifically interfacing with Outside Sales, Inside Sales, Production, and Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and reassess as necessary
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Must travel wherever needed, possibly on short notice and weekends. Travel will be required up to 80% of the time.
  • First responder, CPR certification and field service electrical certification required once in the role.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Resourceful, diplomatic, customer service oriented
  • Must have or be able to obtain a passport
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Experience with SharePoint, SalesForce and JDE Software is considered an asset.

What We Offer You
Typical pay is $53,000 – 72,000 annually. Please note the pay information shown above is a general guideline. Pay is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.

This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program
