Full job description

Do you have experience with produce, food handling, or quality inspection? Vivid Produce Inc. is hiring a Produce Quality Control Specialist to help ensure the "Right Product, Right Quality." This role is perfect for someone who is detail-driven, reliable, and comfortable working in a warehouse or cooler environment while assessing product quality, condition, and grade.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Work Location: SE Calgary, In person

Schedule: Monday – Friday 7am – 5pm. Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends if needed. Possible Stat holidays may be required.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Conduct quality audits on all inbound produce orders and create detailed reporting and documentation for Warehouse Managers and the Sales Team.
  • Inspect outbound product to identify potential quality issues and communicate findings proactively with the Sales Team.
  • Interpret and apply customer-specific product quality specifications to ensure all shipments meet required standards.
  • Arrange and recommend CFIA audits when inbound inspections identify defects that do not meet federal guidelines.
  • Perform daily facility walks to identify aging product, quality concerns, and any risks within stored inventory.
  • Participate in put-away planning with the shipping/receiving team to effectively organize cooler space for incoming commodities.
  • Support coaching, training, and knowledge-sharing with warehouse employees regarding produce quality and specification requirements.
  • Assist with inventory counts and reconciliation as required.
  • Contribute to additional projects or responsibilities as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED IN ORDER TO QUALIFY:

  • Fresh produce experience is required, either from a warehouse, distribution, or retail produce environment.
  • Solid understanding of HACCP principles and food-safety regulatory requirements.
  • A strong eye for detail and accuracy when assessing product condition and quality.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and non-verbal communication skills to clearly report findings and collaborate with teams.
  • Positive, adaptable team player with a professional and energetic approach to work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and the ability to learn internal Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and adherence to company policies, processes, and food-safety standards.
