In 2024, Community Living Central York was the recipient of the Not-For-Profit of the year at the Central York Chamber of Commerce Business Award, Community Leadership Award and the (ODEN) Disability Employment Service Award for Outstanding Employment Service Provider.POSTING DATE: Nov 4, 2025SUMMARY STATEMENT: To support people who have diverse abilities achieve their personal goals and facilitate relationships, skills and roles which promote people's effective participation in the typical and valued life of the community.POSITION (Classification): SUPPORT WORKER FULL TIME POSITION – Supported Independent Living/Health and Wellness REPORTING TO: Manager, Associate Family, Respite Supports & Supported Independent Living ProgramsHOURS: hours per week (Days, Afternoons and Weekends Required)HOURLY RATE RANGE: $27.58 –$28.70QUALIFICATIONS:DSW or equivalent, preferably with a minimum of two years experience working with people who have an intellectual disabilityKnowledge of community resources and how to access themMust be available to work flexible hours including days, afternoons and weekends (willAble to assist with planning, organizing, and coordinating recreation programs and special eventsRequired to complete training in ADBT and Relationship Group Education to facilitate training/s offered to people with intellectual disabilities.Previous experience planning, and facilitating group training`s an assetMust be able to plan and participate in physical activity programs, including swimmingPrevious experience working collaboratively with families and other outside agenciesAbility to multitask and time manage yourself in order to support people in a variety of locations and settings Ability to support and assist people who have an intellectual disability to create and follow budgets. Must be well organized and task orientedAbility to support people to maintain independent living skills and recognize areas of risk Ability to support people through challenging behaviourals and follow protocolsPrevious experience supporting people who have a mental health diagnosis and navigating high anxiety situationsAbility to work independently and as part of teamAbility to follow and create Individual Support Plans, assist with other administration duties including, pre and post data collection Previous experience supporting people who have diabetes and other medical conditions.Strong organizational and interpersonal skillsGood communication skills including written and verbalCurrent First Aid, CPR and Non-violent Crisis Intervention certificatesProven use of CPI strategies including verbal de-escalationValid driver's licence, insurance and reliable vehicleCommitment to providing supports to people in accordance with Social Role ValorizationVulnerable Sector ScreeningRESUMES TO: Sylvia Gray, Workforce Planning Specialist ) by 1:00pm Nov 13, 2025 Community Living Central York is an equal opportunity employer which welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
