ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Junior Project Technician is a key contributor to Smart Dolphins' Professional Services team, responsible for delivering smaller-scale technical projects while supporting the execution of larger, more complex initiatives. Reporting to the Professional Services Manager, this role blends independent project ownership with close collaboration alongside senior technicians. It emphasizes technical growth, process improvement, and consistent delivery of positive client experiences.

Working with senior project technicians, the Junior Project Technician contributes to broader implementations and major deployments. Through this collaboration, they gain exposure to advanced technical practices, develop deeper competency, and expand their ability to support increasingly complex projects.

They also take full ownership of smaller technical projects, such as simple migrations or site setups, managing each engagement from planning through completion. This includes coordinating communication, executing the required technical work, and ensuring all outcomes meet Smart Dolphins' established standards.

Beyond project delivery, this role offers significant opportunities for skill development and continuous improvement. Although primarily part of the Professional Services team, the Junior Project Technician also supports the Support Team by assisting with reactive tickets between projects, helping maintain smooth operations across the organization.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute Technical Services tasks, including small-scale projects such as endpoint installations, software upgrades, and basic network equipment setups.

  • Prepare, configure, and test equipment in the lab, ensuring readiness for deployment and coordinating shipping when necessary.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for support tickets from new clients during onboarding, triaging requests, providing initial assistance, and coordinating with internal teams to support a smooth transition.

  • Work closely with the Project Coordinator to align schedules, budgets, and timelines for assigned work.

  • Provide direct client support, both onsite and remotely, ensuring clear communication and a professional experience.

  • Maintain accurate and timely ticket updates and documentation to ensure visibility and efficiency across the team.

  • Regularly create and update technical procedures, such as onboarding steps or endpoint setup guides, to improve team consistency and efficiency.

  • Contribute to process improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and adopting new tools or technologies.

  • Manage recycling responsibilities, including secure disposal of old equipment.

  • Participate in team meetings and training, proactively seeking opportunities for skill development and alignment with Smart Dolphins' standards.
