As the Working Foreperson/Leadhand, you will be responsible for the service, repair, installation and operation of electrical equipment, controls and components within the Buildings section of Calgary Transit (CT). Primary duties include:
- Perform monthly, semi-annual, annual inspections per assigned work orders.
- Schedule the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical power distribution and control systems, fixtures, apparatus and appliances.
- Test, calibrate, replace and upgrade electrical devices and components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve various automation, control and electrical system problems.
- Complete required paperwork associated with the completion of work orders, Mastercard statements, confined/restricted space entry, Field Level Hazzard Assessments, and Daily Work Plans.
- Perform walk through assessments of new construction, renovations and life cycle installations.
Qualifications
- A completed Journeyperson Electrical certificate, as recognized by the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board (or equivalent Red Seal).
- At least 4 years of post-Journeyperson experience as an electrician, and in-depth knowledge of commercial building electrical systems.
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems is required. A valid Fire Alarm certificate and/or service truck experience will be considered assets.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- You demonstrate troubleshooting skills and the ability to:
- Resolve various electrical and fire alarm problems;
- Effectively work both independently and within a team;
- Read and interpret blueprints, building plans and schematic drawings (related to electrical distribution, lighting, power and fire alarm systems).
- You are a strong communicator, with excellent organizational judgement, prioritization, and analytical skills.

Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
