General Accountability:

The Receptionist/Cashier is the first point of contact for patrons entering the Aquatic Centre. This position provides exceptional customer service, processes admissions and payments, supports program registrations, and assists with the daily operations of the facility. The Receptionist/Cashier ensures patrons receive accurate information, follow facility guidelines, and have a positive, safe experience. This role also provides administrative support to the Aquatic Supervisor and contributes to the smooth operation of aquatic services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet patrons in a friendly, professional manner and provide information about pool schedules, swim lessons, public swim times and any other aquatic programs.
  • Respond to in-person, phone and email inquiries regarding admissions, swim lesson levels, program availability and facility guidelines.
  • Process all incoming calls and in-person inquiries. Directing them to the appropriate people whether it be a lifeguard, instructor or supervisor.
  • Ensure all patrons understand and follow facility rules/guidelines, age requirements, supervision policies and safety expectations.
  • Process payments for public swims, lane swims, aquafit, lessons, rentals and other aquatic activities.
  • Complete facility bookings for birthday parties and private rentals.
  • Sell and renew aquatic memberships and punch passes.
  • Operate point-of-sale system accurately including cash, debit/credit and cheque payments.
  • Complete cash balances and follow cashout out procedures.
  • Monitor entry points to ensure only authorized patrons enter the pool deck and locker room.
  • Admin Support for the Aquatic Supervisor.
  • Communicate with lifeguards, instructors and senior staff to ensure smooth facility operation
  • Assist with facility and or medical emergencies as directed by the Aquatic Supervisor or duty supervisor.
  • General maintenance and cleaning plus other duties as assigned by the Aquatic Supervisor or senior staff on duty.

Health and Safety:

  • Protect the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others on the work site.
  • Immediately report and not participate in any harassment, violent, racial, or discriminatory behavior.
  • Follow all provincial and federal Regulation, Legislation, Codes, and Acts, as well as the Town of Innisfail health and safety policies and procedures as they relate to the tasks being performed.
  • Actively participates in the health and safety management system (conducting inspections, attending meetings, reporting hazards/incidents/safety concerns, cooperating with investigations).

Asset Management:

  • Familiar with the organizations Asset management system.
  • Supports the strategic goals of Council, Senior Leadership and the Department.
  • Maintains their departments respective databases.
  • Participates in streamlining asset management practices.

  • Ability to be bonded and deal with cash.

Qualifications:

  • Successful Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record check.
  • Possess a working knowledge of computers, current software applications (including Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows) as well as other office equipment.

Please note that this is a casual position with evening and weekend shifts.
