ROLE PURPOSEThe Cook is responsible for food preparation, finishing and serving of meals, maintaining clean and orderly working areas, participating in the development of menu plans, and assisting with inventory control and ordering of supplies.LOCATIONPrince George, British Columbia.STATUS AND CLASSIFICATIONUnion. Ensures that purchases are within approved budget limitsMaintains an inventory of food and other related items. Stores food itemsProvides kitchen orientation and meal preparation instruction to staff assisting with kitchen duties, including safe food handling and preparationOther duties shall be assigned as required.WORKING CONDITIONSFunction independently, while remaining a crucial member of the support teamAdhere to Connective policies and proceduresBe available to work flexible hours as needed. May include some evenings/weekends, as determined by the regional office needs and schedulesIs a member of CUPE local EXPERIENCE AND SKILLSOne year of experience cooking in a commercial kitchen and/or in a residential program preparing large quantity mealsAn understanding of support and service provision to people with diverse needsDemonstrated ability to work effectively with others/within a team environmentGood written and verbal communication skillsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical requirements outlined below are non-specific to the position, as such, there may be additional tasks required. The wage will increase with every 2,000 hours worked up to a maximum of $29.26 per hour (plus 5% in lieu of statutory holiday pay for Part-Time employees, 10.6% in lieu of vacation pay and benefits for casual employees).
