Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Cook to join our café team, with a strong focus on preparing high-quality breakfast and lunch items, homemade soups, and supporting our growing catering operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, values cleanliness and consistency, and brings creativity and care to every dish served.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch menu items to order, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Create homemade soups daily, using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
  • Assist in creating and cooking daily lunch specials
  • Assist in preparing and packaging catering orders, ensuring accuracy, presentation, and timeliness.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, tools, and workspaces throughout the shift.
  • Support inventory management: monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients, and report shortages or spoilage.
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and consistent product quality.
  • Participate in menu development and daily/weekly specials as needed.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1–2 years of cooking experience in a café, diner, or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of breakfast and lunch prep, including egg dishes, sandwiches, soups, and salads.
  • Ability to follow recipes and prepare consistent food in a timely manner.
  • Experience with catering or batch cooking is a plus.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work early mornings
  • Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
