Position Status: Up to 3 continuing, full-time positions. This is an existing vacancy.

The Licensed Mechanic will be responsible for the inspection and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment including but not limited to cars, buses, dump trucks, loaders, graders, snow clearing equipment, and small engines.
Duties:
- Operate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric and air-driven tools to diagnose, repair and service vehicles and mechanical equipment.
- Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary units and related parts in the performance of repair and maintenance work.
- Initiate repair requisitions for parts and supplies.
- Create and maintain equipment service records.
- Perform inspections and safety checks along with ensuring that health and safety regulations are met.
- Provide emergency field assistance to disabled vehicles and equipment as needed and appropriate in all weather conditions.
- May be required to provide training to other staff/apprentices.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Current Ontario Government Certificates of Qualifications for a Truck and Coach Technician (310T) is required. A preferred asset would be a current Ontario Government Certificate of Qualifications Automotive Service Technician (310S).
- Valid Class "G" Driver's License.
- Three (3) years progressive experience of diesel engines including transmissions, differentials, electrical, hydraulics, air brake systems, welding/fabricating. Experience in automotive mechanics would be an asset.
- Knowledge of CVOR requirements and regulations is required.
Knowledge of small engines and generator repairs would be an asset.
Proficient in the use of computer applications such Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills with a proven focus on service delivery.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must provide own mechanics tools up to and including ½" drive sockets and wrenches to 1 ¼" sizings.
