Are you outgoing, organized, and passionate about connecting people? We're looking for a creative self-starter to help grow our business community through engaging events, dynamic marketing, and meaningful connections.

About the Role

This is a freelance contract position 5 hours per week)
, perfect for someone looking for flexible, part-time work that combines marketing, event coordination, and community building.

You'll represent the
Orbus brand
— promoting memberships, managing digital content, coordinating events, and helping us grow our network both online and in person.

Please note:
Applicants must live in the Victoria, BC area and have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

What You'll Do

· Promote and sell Orbus memberships online and in person

· Help plan, coordinate, and execute regular meetings and special events

· Grow attendance and engagement at Orbus events

· Manage and update the website, social media, and email marketing

· Build and nurture our online communities

· Support business administration tasks such as data entry, invoicing, and document management

· Explore creative marketing ideas to reach more local businesses

About You

You're a people person who loves to connect, sell, and create great experiences. You thrive in flexible environments and enjoy taking initiative. You're comfortable balancing creativity with organization — and you love seeing your ideas come to life.

You'll shine in this role if you have:

· Experience with social media marketing, SEO, and digital community building

· A knack for event planning or project management

· Skills in basic website design and maintenance

· An understanding of email marketing tools
(like MailChimp)

· Strong
communication, networking, and relationship-building skills

· A passion for sales, marketing, and helping others connect

Bonus points if:

· You have strong local business connections in the Victoria community

· You enjoy graphic design and creative content creation

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (required) — college or university education in marketing, communications, or business preferred
  • Experience in marketing, social media, or event coordination
  • Customer service skills and a positive, can-do attitude

Details

  • Contract type:
    Freelance Independent Contractor
  • Hours:
    5 hours per week (continuing contract)
  • Pay:
    $20–$22/hour for assigned tasks + commission on membership sales
  • Schedule: Must be available to attend and host lunchtime meetings,, some late afternoon events, and other evening events
  • Weekdays (daytime availability required)
  • Some evenings and occasional weekends for special events
  • Location: Victoria, BC
