Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a Community and Indigenous Relations Lead to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at our Saskatoon office with a requirement for travel to attend events and some evening and weekend work. 

Foran Mining is a modern mining development and exploration company advancing Canada's only greenfield copper project currently under construction: the McIlvenna Bay deposit in Saskatchewan. With commercial production expected in mid-2026, this world-class deposit contains copper, zinc, gold, and silver – key metals for the global transition to green energy. The Community and Indigenous Relations Lead will report to the VP HR, H&S, ESG, and is responsible for building and maintaining respectful, mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous peoples and local communities connected to the McIlvenna Bay Project. The role leads engagement strategies, implements community agreements, and represents Foran in fostering open, transparent dialogue. This position ensures respectful engagement, regulatory compliance, and positive community outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and uphold strong, respectful partnerships with Indigenous peoples, local communities, and leaders with interests in or potentially impacted by the McIlvenna Bay Project/Operation.
  • Develop and lead engagement strategies, ensuring Foran is represented at community events, meetings, and other forums to build and maintain respectful, collaborative, and mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous representatives and community members.
  • Oversee the implementation of the various Agreements with Indigenous peoples and communities.
  • Identify, monitor and address emerging issues and concerns from northern and Indigenous communities.
  • Document and synthesize community insights into recommendations.
  • Oversee the development of accessible, plain-language communications that effectively convey Foran's activities to Indigenous peoples and the broader public.
  • Support HR and Supply Chain to maintain respectful, inclusive communication with Indigenous peoples and help create pathways for their participation in workforce and business development opportunities.
  • Lead initiatives that build company-wide understanding of Indigenous cultural protocols, values, and governance, ensuring respectful engagement, strong relationships, regulatory compliance, and effective risk management.
  • Establish and manage an annual community and indigenous relations budget, including the management of Foran's community investment program ensuring alignment with the annual goals and community needs.
  • Maintain a record of contact and relationship management database.
  • Ensure all internal and external reporting requirements are met.

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post Secondary education in Indigenous Studies, Economic Development, Business, Environment Science or a related field is an asset.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with diverse populations of Indigenous peoples and communities.
  • Track record of managing a large variety of priorities in an organized, proactive, and disciplined, manner effectively and meeting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain trusted, effective relationships with Indigenous peoples and a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the principles, importance, and regulatory requirements of Indigenous consultation and engagement.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully across audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive engagement programs.
  • Genuine commitment and enthusiasm for building meaningful relationships across diverse cultures and regions.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with related software Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Cree language skills considered an asset.

Compensation and Benefits: 

We offer a competitive starting salary range of $125,000 - $135,000/year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
