Job Title: External Affairs Co-op
Reporting directly to the SVP, External Affairs, the External Affairs Co-op is responsible for supporting Skeena's Indigenous Relations team with day-to-day engagement and communications activities, assisting with meeting preparation and follow-up, maintaining accurate records of communication, conducting research to support reporting requirements, and providing logistical and administrative support for community meetings, events, and initiatives connected to Skeena's partnerships with Indigenous Nations and local communities.

Responsibilities (including But Not Limited To)

  • Support the External Affairs team with preparation, coordination, and follow-up for engagement activities with Indigenous Nations and community stakeholders.
  • Assist with drafting meeting agendas, briefing notes, summaries, and correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate records of communication and update tracking tools as required.
  • Conduct research on community, cultural, and regional topics to support engagement and reporting.
  • Provide logistical support for meetings, site visits, and community events (e.g., scheduling, catering, travel coordination, set-up/take-down).
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations, reports, and other communication materials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure alignment on external affairs activities.
  • All other duties as reasonably assigned.

The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications

  • Upper-year Bachelor's student, recent graduate, or current Master's student in psychology, sociology, commerce, business administration, political science, geography, natural resources, mining, forestry, earth sciences, engineering, or other closely related fields.
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License

Experience / Skills

  • Demonstrated interest in the mining and natural resources sector, with an understanding of the industry's unique challenges and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with databases or tracking tools considered an asset
  • Comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders in professional and community settings
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate meetings, events, and travel logistics
  • Adaptable and flexible, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
  • Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
  • Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others

Work Location & Conditions
This is an office-based job, in Skeena's Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast paced, and at times stressful working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered.

Depending on business needs and circumstances, this internship will run from January – August 2026.

Compensation The expected hourly range for this position is CAD $20-24, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
