Overview

We are seeking a dedicated IT Support Assistant to provide technical assistance and support to our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of various operating systems, computer hardware, and networking concepts. This role involves troubleshooting software and hardware issues, maintaining IT infrastructure, and ensuring seamless user experiences across multiple platforms including Windows, macOS, and Linux. The IT Support Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency of our IT environment and supporting end-users with their technical needs.

Duties

  • Provide technical support for desktop computers, laptops, and peripheral devices across Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot software issues related to Microsoft Office, operating systems, and other enterprise applications.
  • Assist users with network connectivity issues including LAN setup, Wi-Fi, VPN access, and firewall configurations.
  • Manage and resolve service requests using ServiceNow, Jira, BMC Remedy, or similar ticketing systems.
  • Support computer hardware maintenance, upgrades, and replacements as needed.
  • Configure and support network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
  • Maintain documentation of support procedures and system configurations for future reference.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve complex technical problems efficiently while providing excellent customer service.
  • Assist in the deployment of new hardware/software solutions and updates across the organization.
  • Monitor system performance and security to prevent potential issues or breaches.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Experience with VPN setup and management for secure remote access.
  • Familiarity with computer networking concepts such as LAN/WAN configuration, switches, routers, firewalls, and network security protocols.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues using tools like Jira or ServiceNow ticketing systems.
  • Knowledge of IT support tools such as BMC Remedy for incident management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware components including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications like Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of firewall configuration and security best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
