Role Overview
We are seeking an
Engagement Manager
based in
Calgary
to lead and coordinate
data analytics and AI engagements
for strategic enterprise clients.
This is a
business-facing role
with significant exposure to senior client stakeholders. You will be responsible for understanding client needs, shaping problem statements, translating business questions into analytical workstreams, and orchestrating delivery across technical and business teams.
The ideal candidate is:
- Strong on
business acumen
and knowledge (business value drivers, operations and KPIs) - Able to
quickly learn new industries and business domains - Fluent in working with
data & analytics teams
, even if not a hands-on data scientist - Highly proficient with
PowerPoint and Excel
for story lining, analysis, and client-ready deliverables
Key Responsibilities
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the
primary day-to-day contact
for assigned client engagements. - Engage with both
business and technology stakeholders
to understand objectives, constraints, and success metrics. - Translate
unstructured client questions
into clear problem statements, hypotheses, and analytical workplans. - Facilitate regular
status reviews, steering meetings, and working sessions
; manage expectations around scope, timelines, and risks.
Engagement Planning & Delivery
- Define and manage
engagement charters, delivery plans, and milestones
across multiple workstreams. - Coordinate work between
data engineers, data scientists, solution architects, and business SMEs
to ensure aligned, timely delivery. - Ensure outputs (analyses, dashboards, prototypes, models) are
tied to tangible business outcomes
and clearly communicated.
Business Problem → Analytical Problem Translation
- Develop a deep understanding of client
business processes, KPIs, and value drivers
(e.g., operational efficiency, cost savings, risk reduction, revenue uplift). - Break down business problems into
structured analytical components
and define data, methods, and tools required. - Collaborate with technical teams to
shape solution approaches
, validate feasibility, and refine scope.
Account Growth & Thought Leadership
- Identify
new opportunity areas
where data, analytics, and AI can deliver incremental value for existing clients. - Support senior leaders with
proposals, SOWs, and roadmap development
. - Contribute to internal
playbooks and accelerators
by codifying learnings, templates, and best practices from engagements.
Desired Skills & Experience
- 7+ years
of experience in
strategy
consulting, analytics, and/or technology-enabled transformation
roles. - Strong
business understanding
and ability to
quickly learn new industry verticals and business functions
. - Demonstrated experience
managing client projects or workstreams
, preferably involving data, analytics, or digital transformation. - Proven ability to
structure and drive problem-solving
in ambiguous environments. - Experience working closely with
data/analytics teams
(data scientists, data engineers, BI teams). - High proficiency in
PowerPoint
(storylining, executive presentations) and
Excel
(analyses, scenarios, simple models). - Excellent
communication and stakeholder management
skills, especially with senior business and technology stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience at a
consulting firms
(e.g., MBB, Big four, others). - Experience in
oil & gas, utilities, energy infrastructure, or industrial sectors
. - An
MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification
is a plus but not required.
