The Construction Technology Specialist (Mechanical + Electrical) will be in Vancouver and reports directly to the Construction Division Manager.
Responsibilities
The Construction Technology Specialist (Mechanical + Electrical) will analyze our current systems and become the regions dedicated champion to improve the use and collaboration throughout the team. The software is used to help the region plan, 3D model, fabricate and install both Mechanical & Electrical systems to specification. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Implement and manage technology solutions on construction projects
- Championing the use of Stratus Mechanical Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) Construction software
- Championing the use of Revit & related technology in conjunction with our in-house Building Information Modeling (BIM) team
- Championing the use of Procore for our Project Management requirements
- Makes recommendations on scopes of work where Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) tools and processes can be incorporated
- Integrate new software and ensure new technology is adopted and used correctly across projects.
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to address design and construction challenges.
- Leverage integrated construction technologies to incorporate into projects
- Reviewing other software for BIM model review as required

Education Requirements
- Completion of a Degree or Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology/Construction Management is an asset
- 2-5 years of experience as a qualified tradesperson within the commercial construction industry may substitute for education requirements.
Work Experience Requirements
- 5-7 years construction-related experience including 2-3 years of VDC experience in the commercial & institutional construction industry is preferable
Skills, Abilities, And Other Requirements
- Proficiency with BIM authoring and analysis tools
- Understanding of Revit Suite (Revit MEP)
- Knowledge of Navisworks
- Understanding of Stratus MEP
- Experience with implementing construction technology in commercial/institutional construction is an asset
- Proficient knowledge and strong understanding of established Construction best practices
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Proficient user of MS Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Willing and able to travel within the Greater Vancouver area for site visits as needed
- Clean Class 5 BC Drivers' license and abstract
The expected salary range for this role is between $85,000-$105,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual performance bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
