Accounting Technician

We are looking for an Accounting technician: Payroll and payables.

Under the authority of the Corporate Controller and in close collaboration with them, the Payroll and Payables Technician is responsible for processing accounts payable (processing supplier invoices, preparing payments, coordinating with suppliers and internal departments) and employee salaries (calculating payroll, administering employee benefits, issuing tax slips in the ADP outsourcing system). This person is also responsible for payroll processing, which has two components: processing time and additional data, and analyzing payroll results for Canadian payroll, which is outsourced to ADP, and complete processing of U.S. payroll (time management, calculations if required, issuing tax slips, etc.). This role requires rigor, attention to detail, autonomy, and the ability to manage a large volume of transactions. The main responsibilities will be as follows:

Accounts Payable (approximately 70% of time)

• Verify, record, and process supplier invoices.
• Ensure proper accounting of operations and make necessary corrections while respecting deadlines.
• Verify credit card transactions and ensure adequate accounting in the general ledger.
• Obtain necessary approvals before payments.
• Process payments (checks, transfers, etc.).
• Participate in the preparation of month-end analyses.
• Collaborate on period-end tasks (bank reconciliations, tax reports, and other period-end related tasks).
• Collaborate on year-end tasks.
• Collaborate with the controller on various special mandates and related tasks.

Payroll Administration (approximately 30% of time)

For Canadian payroll (120 employees):

• Ensure proper entry and approval of timesheets for Canadian payroll.
• Validate special payments such as expense accounts, per diems, commissions.
• Transfer information for external payroll processing.
• Generate various reports from the payroll system.

For US payroll (3 employees):

• In addition to the tasks mentioned above, process payroll in the ADP system.

We are looking for individuals with the following profile:

• College Degree (DEC) in Accounting
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, including 1-2 years of experience processing payroll
• Excellent knowledge of Excel and the Office suite.
• Knowledge of ADP and Google Sheet is an asset.
• Spoken and written bilingualism is essential.
• Team player.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Rigor, meticulousness.
• Very good work organization.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Specifics:

• Hybrid work model.
• Some periods in the year can require more time in terms of availability.
