G.E. Barbour Inc. is a multi-product food processor based in Sussex, New Brunswick, famous for King Cole Tea, Barbour's spices, and nut butters. Since 1867, we have maintained the highest standards in product quality, financial integrity, and customer service.

We're seeking an Accountant who thrives on enhancing systems, solving problems, and turning financial data into meaningful insights. You'll work closely with operations and leadership to support efficiency projects, key decisions, and help build a more agile, future‑ready finance function.

Summary of Responsibilities

·       Support the full accounting cycle, including general ledger and period‑end and year‑end close processes.

·       Prepare period and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP

·       Support enhancements to accounting systems for inventory control, cash management, and financial reporting

·       Reconcile bank and investment accounts; maintain accurate general ledger activity

·       Produce weekly and period reporting (e.g., sales, inventory, lost sales)

·       Support costing analysis, product costing, and financial modelling for operational and sales initiatives

·       Oversee capital asset reporting, tax remittances, and bank compliance reporting

·       Manage annual audit, inventory counts, and budgeting/forecasting cycles

·       Collaborate with leaders across Finance, Operations, Sales, and Quality to support business needs

·       Support ERP (S2K) posting accuracy and system maintenance

Qualifications

·       Post‑secondary education in Accounting or Finance, or related experience

·       CPA designation (or working toward CPA) considered an asset

·       Minimum 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience

·       Strong working knowledge or willingness to learn ERP/accounting systems; S2K experience an asset

·       Proficiency in MS Office; advanced Excel skills considered an asset

·       Experience in cost accounting (process, operations, product) is an asset
