Position Overview
Hitachi Rail seeks a
System Engineer / Interface Manager
for a
turnkey rail systems project
in Canada.
The role focuses on
system-level interface management
and
design coordination
across multiple subsystems — including signalling, telecom, power supply, traction, SCADA, and rolling stock — ensuring seamless integration and alignment with project requirements.
This is a
hands-on, client-facing
role requiring
design ownership

interface coordination

cross-disciplinary collaboration

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with
IBM DOORS
or other requirements management tools. - Familiarity with
CENELEC / EN 50126 / EN 50128 / EN 50129
standards. - Exposure to
RAMS
,
V-Model lifecycle
, and
system assurance
. - Bachelor's degree
in Electrical, Electronics, Systems, or Railway Engineering (or related). - Experience working with
Metrolinx
,
Hitachi Rail
, or other
Tier-1 rail integrators
.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead
system-level interface coordination
across subsystems (signalling, power, traction, telecom, SCADA, rolling stock). - Develop and maintain
Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
,
interface registers
, and conduct
cross-discipline design reviews
. - Ensure subsystem designs comply with
contractual, functional, and technical requirements
. - Participate in and lead
interface design workshops
with clients and subsystem leads. - Support
systems engineering processes
, including requirements traceability, PDR/CDR/FDR reviews, and interface validation. - Manage and track
interface changes
; resolve conflicts between
system and civil teams
in coordination with project managers. - Collaborate with internal
design, RAMS, and assurance teams
to ensure consistent system integration. - Represent
Cyient and Hitachi Rail
in
client-facing meetings
and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
