We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our vibrant restaurant team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling, with a focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase culinary artistry while delivering exceptional food service in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should possess restaurant experience, kitchen expertise, and a commitment to food safety standards. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring an outstanding dining experience for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble sushi dishes with precision and creativity, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards
- Handle all aspects of food preparation, including slicing fish, preparing rice, and assembling various sushi rolls and sashimi
- Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation in accordance with health regulations
- Ensure all ingredients are stored properly and rotated regularly to maintain freshness
- Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi creations and presentation techniques
- Serve guests with professionalism and courtesy, providing excellent food service experience
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies throughout shifts
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders during busy hours
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry
- Strong skills in serving, food preparation, cooking, and meal presentation
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper handling of raw ingredients
- Experience working in restaurants or kitchens specializing in Japanese cuisine or seafood is preferred
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed; prior kitchen or food service experience is highly desirable
