Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for field preparation, planting crops, (vegetables and broad acre0, maintaining crops (irrigation and weed control) , assessing trials and data collection and related farm maintenance in outdoor environments. Your expertise will help ensure the reliable operation of the farm during the research season with fairly strict timelines. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge agricultural technology in a dynamic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Installing crop trials - planting, maintaining and staking.
  • Maintain crop trials and record growth and assess timing of crop applications
  • Use tractors and research planters, harrows and discs hopeful with some knowledge of farm equipment.
  • Follow all safety protocols for a agricultural site
  • Document all work activities accurately, trial installation, procedures, assessments, and maintenance logs for equipment
  • Collaborate with team members to implement timelines for crop installation, trial set up and assessments.
  • On site training will be given including safety, pesticide (PAL) and computer training for agricultural software.

Experience

  • Experience working for extended periods outside
  • Experience with farm equipment is major plus
  • Familiarity with computers
  • Some mechanical skills with the ability to use hand tools effectively in outdoor settings

Contract length: 8 months

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 50 per week
