Project Manager II, Workplace Violence

Reporting to the Manager of Quality and Process Improvement, Workplace Health, Safety and Wellness (WHSW) at Unity Health Toronto, the Project Manager – Workplace Violence (WPV) will provide an integrated approach to project management including tools, processes and cross-functional activities with a specific focus on workplace violence. The Project Manager II role is a corporate resource designed to support and consult with clinical programs and support services, fostering integration and change activities across all three sites of Unity Health.
The PM will support the planning, implementation, tracking and reporting of improvement initiatives designed for the reduction and response to workplace violence events
. Working with of a team of clinicians, Interprofessional leaders and staff, the Project Manager II – Workplace Violence will ensure that initiatives are executed in a timely and efficient manner while working to promote safety and wellness across Unity Health Toronto to deliver the best care experiences together.
Duties And Responsibilities
Project Leadership and Development
- Develops action plans for assigned workplace violence prevention initiatives to ensure effective implementation, utilizing best practice guidelines and appropriate project management tools.
- Serves as a representative on committees, large-scale network initiatives, and other project-related activities to advance project goals and align with the network's mission, values, and strategic objectives.
- Participates in department, network, and stakeholder meetings, workgroups, advisory groups, councils, and other relevant forums that may impact project or network initiatives.
- Leads and facilitates department-based education initiatives on Workplace Violence Prevention to foster a safe and informed work environment.
Committee Support
- Assists in coordinating and supporting the network wide Prevention of Workplace Violence and Harassment Steering Committee.
- Supports workstreams by establishing, developing, and implementing effective project communication plans, participating in planning meetings, and contributing as a member of working groups.
- Liaises with committee members and stakeholders to ensure alignment on objectives and action items.
- Assists in preparing reports and presentations for committee meetings, discussions and updates.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Monitor and analyze data trends across all projects, providing comprehensive reports on findings.
- Track compliance for policy adherence, incident reports, and other relevant ministry requirements.
- Prepares quarterly presentations for the Joint Health and Safety Committees regarding corporate workplace violence initiatives
- Develop and maintain data collection tools and dashboards to support ongoing monitoring efforts.
- Identify patterns and anomalies in data to proactively address potential issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Assist in the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks for project evaluation.
- Support audits and compliance reviews through accurate data reporting and documentation.
- Provide training and guidance to WHSW team members on WPV data collection and reporting procedures.
Training Program Coordination
- Responsible for scheduling, organizing, and managing all aspects of network-wide workplace violence training and education sessions, including communication with participants and facilitators.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to facilitate crisis prevention training, ensuring content is relevant and meets organizational standards.
- Work in partnership with third party vendor and internal scheduling team to determine and book training dates to ensure timely delivery of sessions across departments.
- Collaborate with internal teams to design, update, and customize in-house training modules, tools, and resources based on staff feedback and evolving needs.
- Support compliance tracking by monitoring participation, maintaining accurate training records, and generating reports to ensure all staff meet mandatory training requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of training materials, presentations, and resources to enhance engagement and effectiveness.
- Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in workplace violence prevention to continually improve training programs
Qualifications
- Three (3) to Five (5) years project management experience in a health care environment required
- Completion of a recognized Bachelor's Degree required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in workplace violence prevention program development, implementation and evaluation preferred
- Demonstrated ability to retrieve data from multiple systems and sources, interpret and analyze reports, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Demonstrated experience in facilitation, collaboration and negotiation with multiple stakeholders/service providers.
- Demonstrated experience leading initiatives/projects across a multi-site organization.
- Excellent organizational and teamwork skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with change effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task with a high degree of focus and work to tight timelines
- Strong ability to negotiate with and influence others
- Excellent computer skills e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, PowerPoint and Visio required;
- Understands operational excellence, quality improvement, change management and process redesign concepts including lean/six sigma
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information/ideas, in a manner that is easily understood by others required;
- Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous required;
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively as a team player and independently required.
- Demonstrated team player with the ability to be flexible and adaptable to change required;
- Advocate for and active contributor to a culture of patient and staff safety
