The Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategy and Innovation Branch the Director of Infrastructure will have an opportunity to make a difference by supporting the province as it positions its health care system for today and future generations of Saskatchewan. The Director of Infrastructure is an important role in the system by:
- Being a strategic leader with strong communication skills and a passion for improving the patient experience and the effectiveness of the provincial health system;
- Working with others in the Ministry and across the health system to develop and implement strategies, policies and procedures related to capital investment in health care facilities and equipment.
- Leading key aspects of the Ministry's role in the development of health facilities in the province, primarily focused on infrastructure planning for new and replacement hospital and long term care facilities, as well as oversight for maintenance projects and equipment funding.
- Providing strong leadership and direction within a tri-partite governance structure involving the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement.
- Engaging with key Ministry and SHA leadership to ensure infrastructure projects align with health program and policy objectives;
- Overseeing infrastructure maintenance, equipment funding, and strategic and operational infrastructure policy; and
- Identifying and directing the research needed to support the health infrastructure policy development.
Ideal Candidate
Our candidate of choice must be a collaborative and results-oriented leader who demonstrates the following key abilities:
- Strong program management skills and significant experience managing complex projects;
- Strong strategic thinking and planning skills combined with sound judgement, to anticipate sector and government-wide issues and interests, and provide strategic advice that informs executive decision making;
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and balance multiple activities concurrently;
- Ability to work collaboratively and build consensus with a diverse group of stakeholders with demonstrated success in moving key stakeholders to a positive resolution; and
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain collaborative professional relationships, and demonstrated client focus.
Typically, the knowledge and abilities for this position would have been acquired through:
- An educational background in, or equivalent to, a graduate degree in Social Science, or a degree in Economics, Engineering, Architectural Sciences, Business, or a related discipline, supplemented with extensive experience providing team leadership.
- Knowledge of healthcare and infrastructure and its ability to address system demands.
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan's health system and its issues, interests, stakeholders and strategic directions; and
- Knowledge of Project management principles and methodologies.
