Director, RF-HW Engineering

Job Summary:
The Director, RF-HW Engineering on the Module Architecture & Innovation team leads the Hardware and RF engineering strategy for wireless module products, directing a team of 4-6 engineers to balance cost, performance, and market requirements while driving architectural decisions and innovation initiatives that differentiate our product portfolio in wireless WAN technologies.
Responsibilities:
Partners with other R&D disciplines, Product Management, Sales, and executive leadership to align on the product portfolio priorities and strategic goals
Translates strategic priorities into actionable team roadmaps and work items
Monitors progress of work items, provides guidance to overcome roadblocks, and rebalances priorities as needed
Collaborates and builds strong relationships with the HW/RF teams in our other development sites. This may involve yearly travel to Taiwan and Pune, or hosting colleagues from those sites
Participates in strategic planning and product roadmap development with cross-functional stakeholders
Identifies team training needs and coordinates knowledge-sharing initiatives across the organization
Provides performance measurement and career path mentorship for team members
Manages quarterly budget for equipment and licenses; maintains vendor relationships to stay current on test equipment roadmaps
Identify digital transformation initiatives to promote data-driven decision-making and use of AI
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
10+ years of professional experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role managing direct reports
Proven track record of delivering hardware/RF products from concept to production
Experience with hardware/RF architecture for cellular modules or similar products
Experience with high volume manufacturing production and optimization
Knowledge of wireless communication and chipsets
Demonstrated ability to make complex technical decisions balancing cost, performance, and schedule
Ability to translate business priorities into actionable team roadmaps
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of wireless WAN protocols such as LTE and 5G NR
Knowledge of regulatory certification processes (FCC, PTCRB, GCF, carrier certifications)
Knowledge of various 3GPP protocol specifications
Experience working with ODM/JDM partners or contract manufacturers
Experience with antenna design or RF system integration
NAND/eMMC operation and control
GNSS operation and control
Source code control systems such as Git/Gerrit
Defect tracking systems such as Jira
Collaboration tools such as Confluence

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $180,000 - $210,000. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee's total compensation package.
