SUMMARY
The Logistics Carrier Representative is responsible for monitoring the availability and allocation of brokered carriers and equipment. Duties include negotiating rates and schedules with departments and carriers to meet customer obligations. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt upon short notice.
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES &
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Direct availability and allocation of equipment and drivers.
- Develop an understanding of customers' needs and take action to ensure that such needs are met.
- Create an effortless transaction for company clients, ensuring customer loyalty.
- Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements, to take advantage of sales opportunities, or in the case of shortages, to minimize negative impacts on the company.
- Aid other departments in recruiting and scheduling pilot drivers for specialized loads.
- Manage a carrier list to find those who offer the best rates and schedules to fulfill overbooked obligations.
- Negotiate rates and timelines with customers and carriers.
- Interpret and resolve problems for carriers concerning customs, loads, scheduling.
- Identify, bill, and collect for carrier errors and surcharges.
- Assist accounts receivable obtain Proof of Delivery.
- Monitor and track bond and security clearances.
- Other duties may be assigned.
REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS
- Business Administration Certificate required
- CCLP Designation preferred
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in logistics capacity
- Management or supervisor experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to new situations
- Technical ability to understand and use transportation industry programs
- Ability to create and modify word-processed documents using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to give direction regarding work responsibilities, rules, and guidelines
- Ability to use discretion in decision making within predetermined limits and procedurea
