We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative 
Mechanical Engineer
 with experience in residential building systems across Ontario. The ideal candidate will support design development, feasibility analysis, and preparation of mechanical engineering deliverables for low-rise and mid-rise residential projects. This position is well-suited for engineers who thrive in multidisciplinary environments and value high technical quality and client-focused service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems for residential buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Prepare mechanical drawings, specifications, and reports for building permit and construction stages.
  • Conduct load calculations, equipment sizing, energy modelling (optional), and system optimization.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, planners, and contractors to coordinate design solutions.
  • Review applicable codes and standards, including OBC, Ontario Energy Code, ASHRAE, and CSA requirements.
  • Participate in site reviews during construction to verify compliance with design intent.
  • Support permitting, tendering, and client presentations as required.
  • Ensure designs meet safety, performance, and sustainability objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
     from a recognized institution (required).
  • P.Eng designation is a strong advantage
    ; EIT candidates with relevant Ontario experience will also be considered.
  • 2–5+ years of experience in mechanical design for residential buildings (low-rise, multi-unit, custom homes, or renovations).
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC design, hydronic systems, ventilation requirements, plumbing systems, and mechanical equipment selection.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; experience with energy modelling software is an asset.
  • Understanding of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code (as relevant to mechanical coordination), and municipal permitting processes.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.

Assets

  • Experience collaborating with architects, planners, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and high-efficiency mechanical systems.
  • Experience preparing IFC (Issued for Construction) mechanical packages.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
