Composite General Labourer

Allient London is a manufacturer of highly engineered products, primarily supplying the defense industry. We look to provide Design Solutions to some of the more complex challenges our customers face.

We are looking to hire 2 composite technicians on a 3-month contract. Working hours would be 4pm - 2:30am Monday to Thursday. The first month would be on day shift for training (6am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday), but can be moved to afternoon shift quicker due to previous experience and how well training goes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Handle composite materials and tools in a safe manner and follow safety procedures.

Abrade, clean and bond composite components using adhesives.

Build assemblies of composite parts using mechanical fasteners.

Prepare tooling patterns and molds using chemical sealers and release systems

Lay up of fiber glass cloth into molds following lay up work instructions and blue prints

Demold composite parts

Follow build manuals and quality control processes

Route, trim, drill and sand composite components to supplied drawings.

Fabricate templates and jigs to facilitate assembly, trimming and bonding.

Track, record and document work, materials, and products

Effectively liaise with other members of divisional team, FPH Group, customers and outside suppliers

Using lean manufacturing principles arrange shop layout and workflow for efficiency

Ensure jobs are completed with the required time schedule

Driven to ensure all key performance indicator targets are met

Follow regulations and policies as outlined in company's employee handbook

Follow requirements as required by ISO registration

Follow requirements as required by Controlled Goods Registration and other defense sector registrations (i.e. ITAR, etc.)

In accordance with the health & safety policy, follow and exceed the legislative requirements outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act in order to provide a safe & healthy workplace for all employees.

Other duties or projects as assigned – flexible to move between departments.

A mechanical background would be considered an asset.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a Canadian Citizen or have your Canadian PR

High School Graduate

Previous experience working with composites either through on the job training or through schooling considered an asset

Ability to read and understand drawings and visualize in 3-D, blueprints, schematics and part lists

Excellent eye-hand co-ordination and dexterity

Ability to work within a diverse team

Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal

Knowledge of basic production methods.

Demonstrate initiative, reliability and positive team attitude

Must be able to work 10 hour shifts: aft shift 4pm - 2:30am Mon - Fri

Must be able to successfully pass a controlled goods background check
