London, Canada Parkway Garden Centre Full time

This position is responsible for assisting the maintenance labour team and providing general property maintenance to Parkway Garden Centre. The General Labourer will assist the maintenance labour department head with property maintenance and general projects or tasks necessary to keep the greenhouse in a safe, working order.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Assist the maintenance labour manager in various labour projects
- Fabricate or repair tables, stands, sheds and various other facility structures
- Assist in general upkeep, organization and maintenance of the greenhouse facility
- Assist other departments with labour intensive tasks or projects deemed necessary by the maintenance labour manager
- Operate and provide regular upkeep and maintenance of power equipment
- Provide snow removal on property grounds during winter months as required
- Assemble and disassemble shelves, stands and tables as required
- Move stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, or delivery vehicles, by hand or using tractors, or other equipment
- Dispose of compost totes, recycle and waste
- Ability to operate a tractor, forklift or other machinery is an asset but not required.
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the maintenance labour manager

**Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous labour or maintenance experience preferred
- Ability to perform manual labour, including lifting heavy materials
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently without supervision
- Good organizational and problem solving skills
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail

**Work & Sensory Environment**
- Required to stand for long periods of time during shift
- Regularly required to perform repetitive and/or precise hand/finger movements
- Required to lift, carry or handle heavy objects up to 50lbs at a time
- Tolerance to heat is required due to greenhouse setting
- Flexibility with schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays
- During our busiest season from mid-April to mid-June, employees may be required to work 6 days a week, but will not exceed 48 hours/week
- Be willing and able to work in different weather elements

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $17.20 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
