Job Description:
On behalf of our client, a Vancouver-based digital consulting firm specializing in custom software and digital product delivery, we are seeking a Senior Product Owner – Digital Solutions to join a highly collaborative, design-led delivery team.
This is a senior, hands-on Product Owner role operating at the intersection of user experience, business strategy, and technical delivery. The successful candidate will play a critical role from early discovery through delivery, ensuring that complex client needs are translated into clear, actionable product direction while maintaining strong design integrity throughout implementation.
The environment is fast-paced and client-facing, requiring comfort with ambiguity, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead multiple initiatives in parallel. This role goes beyond backlog management — it requires deep engagement in workflows, user journeys, and solution shaping, particularly in enterprise and mid-market client contexts.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Product Owner with a strong UX foundation, capable of shaping solutions from early discovery through delivery rather than operating solely as a backlog administrator.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Discovery
- Own and manage product backlogs across one or more client engagements
- Lead discovery efforts and translate ambiguity into clear, prioritized requirements
- Define acceptance criteria and outcomes before development begins
- Make and communicate trade-offs around scope, sequencing, quality, and risk
Design & UX Leadership
- Lead UX and UI design from concept through delivery
- Define user flows, interaction patterns, and interface direction
- Ensure usability, accessibility, and coherence across digital products
- Partner closely with engineering teams to preserve design intent during development
Delivery & Collaboration
- Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, client services) to support estimation and delivery planning
- Provide ongoing product and design guidance during implementation
- Identify delivery risks early and collaborate on mitigation strategies
Client Partnership
- Act as a trusted product partner for clients, guiding conversations around feasibility, prioritization, and value
- Facilitate alignment across business and technical stakeholders
- Communicate progress, decisions, and risks clearly and proactively
Continuous Improvement & AI Enablement
- Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve research synthesis, ideation, documentation, and backlog refinement
- Experiment thoughtfully with emerging tools and workflows
- Contribute to evolving product and delivery standards across the organization
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar client-facing product delivery role
- Proven experience owning product backlogs and prioritization from discovery through release
- Experience working closely with engineering teams in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills
- Strong preference for candidates with a
UX-led background
, particularly those who have transitioned into Product Owner roles and are comfortable leading discovery, user flows, and design-driven decision-making.
Technical & Tooling Experience
- Familiarity with Agile delivery tools (e.g., Jira, ClickUp, Confluence)
- Experience with design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Miro, or similar
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles (IA, interaction design, accessibility)
- Awareness of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and privacy considerations (e.g., PIPEDA, GDPR)
- Hands-on exposure to AI tools supporting research, documentation, or design workflows
Soft Skills & Attributes
- Strong communicator able to translate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Comfortable leading in ambiguity and creating clarity from incomplete information
- Design-first mindset with strong business and delivery awareness
- Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable owning decisions
- Calm under pressure and effective at balancing scope, timelines, and quality
Compensation
- Base salary range: $100,000 – $120,000 CAD per year, depending on experience and alignment with the role
- Bonus: Performance-based bonus program
- Benefits: Comprehensive health & wellness benefits and learning & development support
- Hybrid work model with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week
