About the Job

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):

  • Performs assessments and plans, implements and provides personal and nursing care to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; the scope or extent of the skills that the LPN performs varies according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population
  • Under the direction and supervision of a physician/nurse practitioner (NP), provides orthopaedic care by performing duties such as assessing and evaluating patient condition; reviewing x-rays to confirm plan of care; applying casts and splints; removing externally exposed pins, wires, staples and sutures; setting up traction equipment and performs related orthopaedic duties
  • Operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards and unit specific protocols

This is a Permanent Full Time opportunity.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and evenings rotating from 07:00 to 19:00, 11:00 to 23:00, 09:00 to 21:00 hours.

Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) acts as a referral centre to three community hospitals and one diagnostic centre in the South Okanagan and includes a regional population of 85,000. It has an operating capacity of 158 acute beds and 102 extended care beds. A full range of services are provided with the exception of open heart surgery, neuro surgery, and recent spinal cord injury care.   • Graduation from a BCCNM recognized practical nursing education program plus completion of formal post-basic education in Orthopaedics, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Current practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) required
