EHS Coordinator – Carmichael Engineering
Carmichael Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support our growing team. The EHS Coordinator will assist in implementing safety programs, supporting compliance initiatives, and promoting a strong safety culture across our operations. This position plays a key role in supporting the EHS Manager, operations team, and field staff to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This position is based out of our Richmond, BC Office.
Location: 13562 Maycrest Way, Unit 5108, Richmond (British Columbia) V6V 2J7
Salary Range: $68,000-$80,000
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of Carmichael Engineering's EHS programs and initiatives, contributing to continuous improvement in environmental, health, and safety performance.
- Assist in monitoring, collecting, analyzing, and reporting EHS data and KPIs (e.g., workplace inspections, corrective actions, training completion, incidents, etc.).
- Provide technical support in addressing environmental, health, and safety challenges and issues.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure consistent application of EHS policies and procedures.
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and assist in ensuring compliance with provincial Industrial and Construction OHS regulations.
- Support supervisors in meeting EHS requirements and completing necessary documentation.
- Assist with revisions to EHS programs and procedures to align with best practices and company goals.
- Conduct or support EHS training sessions for employees in assigned program areas.
- Participate in injury and illness investigations by gathering information, documenting findings, and assisting with corrective actions.
- Support project managers and field teams to ensure regulatory compliance on active job sites.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and tracking corrective action and continuous improvement plans.
- Conduct routine inspections, hazard assessments, and follow-ups on safety concerns.
- Track and help ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Support the preparation and submission of required EHS metrics, documentation, and reports.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with employees, supervisors, and regulatory bodies as required.
Required Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in an EHS-related role (construction, HVAC, industrial, or field-service environment preferred).
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, or a related field (completion of a recognized OHS certificate program is an asset).
- Knowledge of provincial Industrial and Construction OHS regulations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to support multiple sites and stakeholders.
Desired Characteristics
- Ability to understand and apply EHS regulations relevant to construction, HVAC, or service-industry environments.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and the ability to work with digital reporting tools and EHS systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, supervisors, and field personnel.
Professional demeanor and the ability to represent Carmichael Engineering positively with external partners, customers, and regulatory agencies.
