This is a dynamic and ever-growing role that requires supplying accurate and meaningful information to facilitate key financial and operational decisions within the business while meeting compliance obligations. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to various areas of accounting, including management accounting and IFRS financial accounting, accounting consolidation, and international financial transactions. The candidate will be working within a broader financial analyst team and provided guidance in required tasks working under the direction of the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis.Responsibilities.Support the integration of financial accounts into a global public company, ensuring seamless processes, data accuracy, and complianceDevelop new integrated financial metrics to foster next-level business performance and enable data-driven decision-makingPerform account reconciliations of selected asset and liability accounts, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve outstanding items promptlyPrepare monthly and quarterly journal entries related to banking transactions, intercompany billings, expense allocations, and routine accrualsContribute to regular budgeting and forecasting activitiesAssist with sales tax compliance and prepare monthly filingsConduct monthly variance analysis of expenses, comparing actual results to budgeted figures and presenting findings to managementEstablish ongoing data collection mechanisms for newly established corporate reportingAssist with the first IFRS annual financial statement audit and fulfill half-year public company reporting obligationsGenerate monthly and quarterly financial reportsProvide support for ad-hoc financial requests and finance projects as neededQualifications, competencies, and experience.Previous experience working in a finance or accounting environmentPost-secondary education with a focus on accountingA Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or is in the process of pursuing a CPA designationExperience or knowledge of international finance reporting standards (IFRS).Experience with Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) accounting would be an asset but not requiredExperience or understanding of strong internal controlsHigh proficiency in Excel including pivots, complex formulas, etc.Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and a desire to learn and grow professionallyEffective communicator amongst other finance and accounting professionals.A strong work ethic and attention to detailThe ability to work independently, multitask, and deliver timely results with high qualityAptitude for automating and streamlining financial processes and proceduresProficiency with Power Query is an assetNo recruiters or agencies please.#LI-HYBRID Smart & Biggar offers a comprehensive total rewards package including: A competitive compensation structure based on transparency, clarity and fairness A flexible benefits program Personal days to help balance personal and professional commitments Employee referral program Smart & Biggar is a proud member of the Law Firm Diversity and Inclusion Network (LFDIN), working to promote diversity and encourage a culture of inclusion in our Firm and the broader legal profession.
