JOB SUMMARY:
The French Translation Specialist is responsible for delivering accurate, high quality French translations that support the Company's brand, customer engagement and regulatory compliance efforts. While this role is essential for meeting the requirements of Bill 96, it will extend beyond that project to ensure all customer-facing and internal materials are consistently available in clear, professional French.
Working as part of the Marketing team, the French Translation Specialist plays a key role in ensuring our message resonates across Canada's French-speaking markets. This role will translate a wide range of content- including product documentation, packaging, marketing assets, digital content, internal communications, and training materials, maintaining brand voice, technical accuracy and legal compliance.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Translate English content into French (Québécois) for all departments, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency with brand standards
- Lead translation efforts related to Bill 96 compliance, including product labeling, packaging, signage, documentation and digital materials
- Review and proofread French content created internally or by external partners to ensure linguistic and technical accuracy
- Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product Management, Sales, HR, and Customer Service to understand translation needs and prioritize projects
- Maintain and update company translation glossaries, terminology databases and style guides
- Ensure all translated materials meet regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Assist with bilingual content planning and contribute to marketing strategy for French speaking markets
- Coordinate occasionally with external translation vendors or freelances when required
- Provide French language support to internal teams (e.g. writing short communications, reviewing presentations, ensuring quality French-language customer touch points)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, French Studies, Communications or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Native or near-native fluency in French (Québécois), with strong command of written English
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional translation experience, ideally in technical, industrial or marketing settings
- Strong knowledge of Bill 96 requirements and/or ability to become an internal subject matter expert
- Exceptional attention to detail, grammar and linguistic nuance
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
- Familiarity with translation tools (e.g. CAT tools, terminology management software) is an asset
- Experience working cross-functionally with Marketing team is a strong advantage
