The Ministry of Corrections Public Safety and Policing (Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre) is seeking a skilled, self-directed and motivated individual with solid leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills who enjoys working outdoors on a majority of the assigned responsibilities. We are seeking a candidate who will demonstrate a strong commitment to the supervision of an outside maintenance crew of adult (male) inmates.

Taking on the responsibilities of the Centre's outside maintenance and minor repair and maintenance work within the Centre as required, the successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to the Centre's inmate maintenance crew. As their supervisor, you must be a positive role model who will maintain the integrity of the Justice System and the people it serves. You and a crew of inmates' duties will include snow removal (parking lot, exercise compound, sidewalk and walkway), transportation and installation of Centre's appliances, moving furniture and office equipment, troubleshooting repairs to equipment, and other job-related tasks, as assigned.
The successful candidate should have experience in the operation of commercial-sized skid steer and their related attachments as well as having mechanical aptitude in troubleshooting minor maintenance repairs to equipment, along with seasonal equipment - lawn mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws and spraying devices. You will be required to inspect, troubleshoot and repair program related equipment on a regular basis ie. troubleshooting commercial kitchen appliances, maintaining preventative maintenance lifecycle tracking of Corrections program equipment. In this role, you will be the lead in management of the Government Surplus processes, moving/storage of equipment, and listing assets following the policies and procedures related to this function. To be successful in this position, you must be able to work independently and have strong organizational skills. You must have keen leadership skills in order to provide direction and guidance to inmates in the completion of their daily duties.
Typically, to qualify you must have knowledge and experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of commercial-sized equipment such as a commercial appliances, skid steer and its related attachments; and knowledge and experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of small equipment such as lawn mowers and weed trimmers. Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and knowledge of dangerous chemicals is also required.
