Location: Surrey, British Columbia
Forbes Bros Ltd. is currently looking for experienced Work Methods Specialist – Civil Construction (fulltime-permanent) to join our team, This is a field-based role that will require the successful candidate(s) to travel to various job sites in lower mainland BC in addition to occasional travel to the Okanagan region.
The Work Methods Specialist's-Civil Construction primary role is to have a strong field presence while providing technical guidance relating to general, powerline, and utility construction work activities to ensure standardization of work methods, aligning with organizational and client requirements. Other responsibilities include training and development, training tracking, initial onsite incident investigation/corrective action support, KPI's, SQP support and facilitation.

Emulates Forbes Bros core value of 'WE WORK SAFE' in all daily tasks Ensure consistent application of work methods standards, and HS&E practices within all operationsMaintain active presence in field operations, offering technical guidance on civil construction and or powerline and utility construction activities inclusive of but not limited to:Crew visits, Pre-Ground disturbance approvals and oversight, Site documentation (VSL's, Site Observations, Tailboard Audits)Identify opportunities for training and development and Equipment TrainingAssist with PPE Management and enforcementCoordinate and lead work teams or committees that set minimum corporate standards in work methods and executionAssist in the standardization of work methods and training, ensuring compliance with company and client standards including but not limited to:
Actively participate in client required trainingMake it a point to learn and understand client standards and processes so you can speak to it in the field, help tailor training programs, and provide mentorship to crew membersAssist with onboarding of new workers, deliver training, and track it following the company programs and processesProactively identify and mitigate high-risk tasks before executionUse the documentation and support compliance of the program with the crews and project managementEstablish and maintain programs that support civil construction and powerline, utility work activitiesAssisting with continuous improvement projects and other operational tasks, as required
What We Are Looking For:
Ten years of Civil Construction and/or Journeyman Powerline experience, are requiredMinimum five (5) year' experience in a supervisory or equivalent leadership position, is requiredValid Class 5 Driver's License, is required. Demonstrated knowledge in civil construction activities and heavy civil equipment operationWorking knowledge of regulatory and legislative OH&S requirements, IEEE Standards, other related legislation, and industry best practices Strong communication skills, with the ability to direct a team to efficiently and effectively complete jobs within deadlinesAble and willing to accommodate frequent overtime hours and weekend hours when requiredAble and willing to travel to various project locations as required Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver's AbstractDisclaimer: As per client/site requirements, candidates may be required to undergo pre-access screening.
