Job Summary

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aides to provide high-quality patient care in home health environments in Calgary and Chestermere. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting residents with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and maintaining accurate medical documentation. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with diverse healthcare needs, including those with dementia, Alzheimer's, developmental disabilities, and other chronic conditions. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for caregiving.

Duties

  • Monitor and observe patients' conditions, including vital signs and overall well-being
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Administer medications and manage medication records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Support patients with dementia or Alzheimer's care, memory care
  • Perform catheter care and assist with medical procedures such as Hoyer lifts and other mobility aids
  • Provide meal preparation and assistance with feeding for residents requiring dietary support
  • Assist with laundry, cleaning, and maintaining a safe environment in accordance with health standards
  • Support patients' emotional well-being through compassionate interaction and engagement
  • Follow all safety protocols including CPR certification and infection control procedures

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health care preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical documentation practices
  • Certification in Health Care Aide is required; additional certifications such as hospice care or dementia care are a plus
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or disabilities is advantageous
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medication administration procedures
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments
  • Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information following HIPAA guidelines
  • Physical ability to assist with patient mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and perform tasks requiring lifting or bending
