What You Will Get To Do

Reporting to, and under the direction of, the Manager of 55+ Recreation, the temporary 55+ Outreach Coordinator is a grant funded position that is responsible for the coordination and development of 55+ outreach programs, services, and events, the coordination of outreach projects and administrative duties. As well as supporting wellness workshops and socials. The duties include, but are not limited to:  

  • program and event planning, including: research, development, promotion, organization, coordination, facilitation, implementation and evaluation;
  • ongoing recruitment, supervision and monitoring of contractors and volunteers;
  • updating ActiveNet to include new program information for enrolment and monitoring registration;
  • developing and sustaining community partnerships;
  • the generation of promotional information; and,
  • other duties as may be assigned.
What You Bring To Our Team

As the successful applicant, you must possess:

  • a post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation and/or Gerontology, or a related field;
  • a minimum of one year (1) year experience with the coordination and development of 55+ programs and services and special events;
  • certification in CPR-C and Emergency First Aid, with AED;
  • proficiency in a Windows based environment, with a demonstrated intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including MS Word, Excel and Outlook);
  • an understanding of Recreation Registration applications (preferably ActiveNet);
  • the ability to communicate orally, and in written form, in a clear and concise manner;
  • strong interpersonal and public relations skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with seniors, other employees and the general public;
  • strong leadership, organizational, and problem solving skills;
  • excellent research, numerical and analytical skills;
  • the ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision;
  • the ability to exercise discretion, judgement and diplomacy; and,
  • a valid police criminal record check to work with the vulnerable sector.
     
Salary Range/Hourly rate:
  • $25.00 per hour

Work Shift:

Flex hours, including days, evenings and weekends (up to 24 hours per week)
