Civil Design Engineer

Binnie is looking for a Civil Design Engineer to join our Development Squamish Division, which provides professional services for municipal infrastructure programs, large multi-family housing projects, and major commercial and industrial developments. This position is full-time in our Squamish Office, located in the beautiful Sea to Sky region. This position also offers options for a hybrid working environment after the initial onboarding period.

Projects typically include site servicing, underground infrastructure renewal, drainage improvement and in-stream works, stormwater management and green infrastructure, grading, roadway geometrics and rehabilitation, and pathways.

You will lead the design and production process, prepare and review design calculations, and provide technical support to Project Managers and inspection staff through the project delivery life cycle.

You will deliver a variety of civil engineering project designs, and act as the Engineer of Record – signing and sealing drawings, letters, and reports. You will also enjoy working alongside our talented team of Engineers, Project Managers, Designers and Technologists with support from our team of Senior Engineers who actively coach and mentor our staff to encourage development and progression. YOUR ROLE:

• Leading civil engineering land development and infrastructure design including site servicing, grading, and drainage projects
• Preparing and reviewing design calculations in accordance with current standards
• Maintaining design files with necessary calculations and documentation
• Preparing design reports, letters and technical memorandums
• Acting as a project EOR, signing and sealing drawings, reports, calculations and technical documentation
• Providing input to Project Managers in the preparation of fee proposals
• Undertaking quality control procedures and monitoring design standards on completed work
• Directing staff involved with the design process

WHAT YOU BRING:

• A minimum of 4 years of progressive and related work experience in a civil consulting engineering environment, previous experience in land development and municipal engineering is an asset
• Relevant experience acting as an Engineer of Record, signing and sealing drawings, reports, calculations and technical documentation
• Registration as a P.Eng. with EGBC, or equivalent
• Strong communication and time management skills and ability to work concurrently on several different projects
• Excellent attention to detail to consistently produce accurate, high quality work
• Confidence to perform design work with minimal supervision
