Position Summary
Director of Strategy & ePMO- Office of Strategy and Learning Management
Your goal in this position is to provide enterprise-wide leadership for the development and execution of the Corporate Strategic Plan. The Director of Strategy & ePMO is accountable for strategy implementation, annual planning, performance measurement, and enterprise transformation initiatives, while advising the Senior Leadership Team. The role also represents the organization externally with system partners, government agencies, and academic institutions to advance NYGH's priorities and leadership role. Patient, family, and community voices are embedded in all planning and transformation to align with NYGH's vision of World-Class Care, 24/7. Director of Strategy & ePMO also leads an expanded Enterprise Program Management Office (ePMO), ensuring disciplined oversight of the hospital's project and program portfolio. This includes standardizing methodologies, monitoring progress, producing enterprise dashboards, and aligning resources to corporate priorities across clinical care, education, research, and digital transformation.

On a practical level, you will

  • Lead project delivery of all projects assigned to the Strategy & Transformation Office, including oversight of resources and managing escalations and risks.
  • Provide direct oversight, coaching, and mentorship to senior project managers, project managers, coordinators, and learners.
  • Assign, review, and approve work plans, deliverables, and timelines for strategic initiatives across portfolios.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s with Project Managers and directly with VPs, and team meetings to track progress, address challenges, and provide performance feedback.
  • Manage escalations and risks identified on strategic initiatives, ensuring timely resolution and communication to appropriate SLT members.
  • Develop team capacity in project management, change management, quality improvement, strategic analysis, and business transformation.
  • Work directly with Senior leadership team to align office resources to high-priority initiatives and ensure enterprise strategy execution.
  • Ensure consistent project management standards, tools, and reporting frameworks across all initiatives.
  • Support project managers in stakeholder engagement, including cross-departmental collaboration, executive updates, and communication planning.
  • Lead development and oversight of an enterprise-wide portfolio of high-impact strategic initiatives across clinical, research, education, and corporate areas.
  • Steward the organization's Strategic Investment Fund by facilitating Senior Leadership Team (SLT) prioritization and approval of proposals, tracking funding decisions, and monitoring implementation outcomes to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Design and maintain governance and reporting structures for prioritization, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Facilitate SLT decision-making, ensuring initiatives align with strategic directions. Additionally foster collaboration across clinical, research, and corporate teams to achieve measurable results.
  • Identify and escalate risks, interdependencies, and resourcing needs across the portfolio.
  • Partner with all VPs, Directors, and Chiefs to coordinate enterprise-wide delivery.
  • Exercise independent judgment to address cross-functional barriers and drive organizational outcomes.
  • Prepare updates and performance reports for SLT and the Board.
  • Lead the development of bi-monthly SLT Strategy Meeting agendas and facilitate as required
  • Independently lead select enterprise initiatives identified by the SLT requiring senior-level oversight and discretion.
  • Represent NYGH at external system-level planning and governance tables, strengthening partnerships and advancing the hospital's strategic priorities.
  • Resolve cross-functional challenges and drive outcomes through collaboration and influence.
  • Integrate evidence-informed approaches and maintain alignment with enterprise priorities.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with peer hospitals, government agencies, academic institutions, and community partners.
  • Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies to SLT and Board.
  • Advise the CEO, VP, and SLT on enterprise priorities, risks, and emerging opportunities.
  • Conduct environmental scans and future-focused analysis to inform planning.

Qualifications

  • Masters in Health Administration, Business Administration, Public Health or Masters in science required
  • Undergraduate degree in Health Science/Administration, Nursing, Medicine, Business administration, commerce, public policy, political science required
  • Lean or other process redesign certification experience preferred
  • Certified Health Executive Project Management Professional preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in previous leadership and people management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Project and Change Management
