Summary

The Manager of Environmental Services (MES) is part of the interdisciplinary senior leadership team and is responsible for the leadership and management of the housekeeping, laundry and maintenance departments in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Home, Residents' Bill of Rights, applicable legislation and regulations, corporate policies and procedures and the collective agreement.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

· A post-secondary diploma or related post-secondary credentials

· A minimum of 2 years of related supervisory or managerial experience in a health care setting

· Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based best practices and prevailing practices related to housekeeping, laundry and maintenance, as applicable

· Demonstrated proficiency in operation and use of a computer, related technologies and software required for the role

· Ability to work both independently (self-directed and motivated) and as part of a team

· Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to address conflict positively

· Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, particularly the Fixing the Long-Term Care Homes Act, Retirement Homes Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act

· Previous experience working with the elderly preferred

· Vulnerable Sector Police Check completed within the last 6 months

· TB Test completed within the last year

Key Responsibilities:

· Champion a holistic, high-quality approach to resident services that aligns with Shalom's Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.

· Plan, direct, and coordinate all activities related to the effective operation of maintenance, laundry, housekeeping, and facility management.

· Provide leadership and day-to-day staff supervision to maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry team members in accordance with legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and collective agreements.

· Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations; proactively manage and mitigate risk issues within the Environmental Services department.

· Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies and procedures, and contribute to whole-Home policies and procedures.

· Actively participate as a key member of the leadership team, contributing an environmental services perspective to organizational processes, quality improvement initiatives, and risk management programs.

· Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's strategic and operational plans, ensuring a focus on delivering exceptional resident care and support.

· Develop and manage annual operating budgets for the laundry, housekeeping, maintenance, and facility departments.

· Prepare and oversee capital budgets related to maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, and facility operations.

· Ensure fiscal responsibility and cost-effectiveness across all Environmental Services departments.

· Manage and evaluate all service contracts related to laundry, housekeeping, maintenance, and facility operations.

· Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development among all Environmental Services staff.

· Lead staff education and training on all Environmental Services–related topics.

· Promote practices consistent with the principles of not-for-profit health care delivery.

This job is 100% on site at Shalom Manor 12 Bartlett Ave, Grimsby.
