We are a full-service Mechanical, Electrical and ICAT Engineering Firm, offering Professional Engineering Services through all phases of a Project: from early Master Planning to Detailed Design and Bid Document preparation, right through to Construction and Contract Administration; in both the traditional and alternative finance and procurement (AFP) project delivery models.

Position Description:

This exciting opportunity in our Ottawa office will provide you with the opportunity to join our team to work on our high-profile projects and act as a Project Engineer/Project Manager within the Mechanical Engineering Group on both new construction and re-model projects. You will apply your engineering knowledge on project work from conceptual design through completion in the following areas: commercial, residential, education and institutional buildings. Technical quality, cost effectiveness, building and maintaining client relationships, and providing guidance to a team of designers are integral parts of this role

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Strong knowledge of mechanical building systems (HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and drainage) is a must.
• Design mechanical building systems in accordance with the firm standards, municipal or provincial building codes, and applicable industry standards.
• On-site investigation, survey and reporting of existing mechanical systems.
• Liaise with all stakeholders including owners, architects, interior designers, project consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
• Perform construction phase services including site reviews, site review reports, equipment shop drawing reviews, progress draw reviews, preparation of change notices, site instructions, and contractor quotation reviews.
• Attend and contribute to design coordination meetings with project stakeholders including internal team members, clients, and consultants.
• Experience with LEED projects and multidisciplinary design teams (including architectural, electrical, structural, and communications systems) is considered an asset.
• Any other relevant tasks assigned by the Sector Lead required to assist in the completion of projects.

Qualifications:

• University Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of related work experience
• Working knowledge of REVIT, Autodesk AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Carrier HAP.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and independently
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
• Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
• P.Eng designation required. (candidates nearing designation will be considered)
• Fluency in French and/or possession of the ing. designation (Québec) is considered an asset
• Possession of a Government of Canada Reliability Status or Secret (Level II) security clearance is highly desirable.
