What you can expect to do here:

  • Oversee and lead archaeological fieldwork projects, including surveys, excavations, and data collection.
  • Be a positive voice and motivate your team of technicians to complete high quality work efficiently.
  • Complete in field artifact identification for both Indigenous and Euro-Canadian artifact assemblages.
  • Supervise and mentor field technicians and other team members.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical archaeological reports and with proposal development.
  • Provide visible leadership by promoting health and safety in all aspects of your work.
  • Coordinate with project managers, stakeholders, and Indigenous communities to ensure project timelines and objectives are met. 

What you'll bring to WSP ...

  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology or a related field.
  • Research of Professional License to conduct archaeological fieldwork in good standing from the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism.
  • Be competent in understanding the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism's Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists to ensure all fieldwork is compliant with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • At least 1 year of previous experience as a Field Director is preferred.
  • Familiar with digital data collection and software (Field Maps/Collector, ArcGIS).
  • Well organized with a high attention to detail when completing required field documentation and Health and Safety paperwork.
  • Able to follow and implement both technical and safety training and instructions.
  • Canadian experience and familiarity with local regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience with Indigenous Engagement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record, per the WSP's driving policy, and ability to operate field vehicles and fleet trucks.

Additional Information:

  • The position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various field sites.
  • Overnight travel for extended periods will be required at times.
  • Start Date: April 2026
