The Patient Care Worker will assist with and provide, under supervision, basic nursing care for patients which will include care for patients suffering from acute or persistent, enduring mental illness and patients experiencing severe intellectual disabilities. Rotation to all units in the hospital will be required at times. The PCW will work under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse. Please note that this particular position requires gender specificity in order to address the patient needs many of whom have previously experienced trauma or violence.

Duties will include:

  • Providing 1:1 supervision for a patient with complex needs;
  • Providing for the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs of the mentally ill client;
  • Providing effective communication through charting as well as written and verbal reports;
  • capable of performing sterile and non-sterile techniques;
  • Providing guidance to non-professional staff;
  • Relocation of position to Brackley Small Options when construction is complete;
  • other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent as recognized by the Employer
  • Resident Care Worker certification program or equivalent as recognized by the Employer
  • Good Communication and Judgement Skills
  • Capable of sustained physical activity
  • Able to provide physical, psycho-social, emotional, and spiritual support to residents/clients.
  • The successful applicant must have a good previous work and attendance record.

Other Qualifications:

  • Previous / Recent experience in mental health would be an asset.
  • Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
  • Advanced Code White training will be considered an asset.

Successful applicants are expected to complete the term of temporary assignment unless appointed to a permanent position.

Salary Range: $ $29.47 per hour

Bi-Weekly Hours: 75 Hours Bi-Weekly / Days, Nights, and Weekends – 12 Hr Shifts
