Quality Control Assistant (Highway Preservation Projects)
Location: Northern British Columbia (Seasonal / Summer Position)
Reports to: Quality Control Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Assistant to support our highway preservation operations throughout Northern British Columbia. This role works closely with the Quality Control Manager and Project Manager to ensure materials testing, quality control procedures, and documentation are completed accurately and in accordance with contract requirements.
This is a field-based, travel-intensive role, working on active highway preservation projects throughout the summer construction season.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with materials testing and quality control activities on highway preservation projects (e.g. seal coating, crack sealing, surface treatments)
- Collect, record, and organise quality control data and test results accurately
- Complete daily reports, test logs, and quality documentation using company systems
- Coordinate closely with the Quality Control Manager and Project Manager regarding testing schedules, results, and any quality concerns
- Support compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements
- Travel to and work at various project sites across Northern BC for the duration of the summer season
- Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper handling and documentation of samples
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow testing procedures precisely
- Good computer skills, including data entry, spreadsheets, and digital reporting
- Comfortable working in a field environment and outdoors for extended periods
- Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with supervisors and project teams
- Willingness and ability to travel and work away from home for extended periods
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence (required)
- Previous experience in quality control, materials testing, construction, or highway work is an asset but not required
- Must be eligible to work in BC
