Job Description

The Residential Field Specialist plays a key role as the on-site representative to residential customers across a defined territory. This position combines technical fieldwork, customer engagement, and program support to help drive the adoption of energy‑efficient technologies. The ideal candidate brings strong technical aptitude, customer service skills, and a background in residential energy efficiency or related trades.

This role requires 4–8 years of experience. A High School Diploma or Associate's Degree is required, and relevant industry technical certifications or training are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance, Audits & Technical Fieldwork

  • Conduct residential energy audits, including pre- and post-installation verifications.
  • Perform on-site quality assurance reviews and electronic evaluations of field data entered into program databases.
  • Collect technical data needed to support energy efficiency assessments and program requirements.

Technical Guidance & Support

  • Provide customers, contractors, and internal teams with technical advice and guidance on proper installation, adaptation, and configuration of energy-efficient equipment.
  • Deliver field-based training aligned with client specifications and program standards.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and recommend appropriate solutions.

Program Coordination, Reporting & Issue Resolution

  • Serve as a local, on-site representative for the program and company, engaging directly with residential customers.
  • Provide input, observations, and status updates to program staff to support planning, project scope alignment, and evaluation of product effectiveness.
  • Apply technical expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve field issues.
  • Support Account Managers by gathering field insights that help influence stakeholders toward installing energy efficiency retrofits or supporting new construction initiatives.

Territory Travel

  • Travel throughout an assigned geographic area to perform audits, verifications, inspections, and technical support activities.

Other Duties

  • Complete miscellaneous tasks in support of program operations, customer satisfaction, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
  • 4–8 years of relevant experience (energy efficiency, HVAC, residential construction, building science, inspections, or related fields).
  • High School Diploma or Associate's Degree required; technical certificates (e.g., BPI, RESNET, HVAC certifications) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of residential building systems and energy efficiency measures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and field issues with confidence and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and traveling frequently within a defined territory.
  • Valid driver's license required.
