Product Owner

Job Description:
On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a Product Owner to be responsible for turning the business analysis work into product roadmaps that define the business products being built and the product features that make up each product. This role links the business to the technology teams. The person will need to explain the product vision to the technology teams and ensure the technical delivery teams have enough business context and product understanding, at the feature level, to be able to build the product. The person will be interacting with business subject matter experts as well as technical leads and solution architects.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the business design team of analysts to turn their analysis work into products and features
• Define and quantify the benefits that each product will deliver
• Clarify how the products will be utilized by the users and how the products will impact their work
• Interact with the delivery teams to ensure they understand the product vision and the features that they will be building
• Create and manage a roadmap of products and features that will be referenced continuously by the program and the development teams
• Work with the change experts to plan for change management related to product implementations
• Serve as a liaison between the business unit and the technology delivery teams
Deliverables:
• Product vision, based on the work coming from the business design group
• Product roadmap, plotting the product deliverables on a timeline
• Elaboration of each product into high-level business features
• Business Cases to secure funding to build the products, with a clear explanation of benefits
• Presentations to both business and technical audiences, including to senior leaders at steering committee meetings
Qualifications:
• 7+ years of product management type experience, working on complex systems with both business and technology experts
• Familiarity with agile development practices
• Experience presenting information to senior executives
