Toronto, Ontario, Canada BenchSci Full time

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative
Senior Total Rewards & Operations Specialist
. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Talent Operations, this role is an exciting blend of all things total rewards—as well as an opportunity to stretch into HR operations, taking on execution and management of broader HR projects and initiatives.

Drawing on previous experience, the Senior Total Rewards & Operations Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert, playing a key role in delivering our compensation, benefits, and retirement programs, as well as supporting our HR operations to ensure they support our business objectives.

This is a high-impact role, requiring an exciting blend of high-level and hands-on work. You'll be pushing innovative, forward-looking initiatives while delivering the day-to-day with precision. You'll navigate ambiguity and bring structure to complexity—knowing when to challenge the status quo and when to reinforce the fundamentals.

Ultimately, this is a unique opportunity to drive meaningful impact in a dynamic organization, all in support of BenchSci's mission to help scientists make breakthrough discoveries to bring new treatments to patients faster. If this sounds like a mission that excites you, we want to hear from you

Pay range:
$88,000 - $97,000

We know compensation is an important part of choosing your next role. The range shown reflects our target hiring range, informed by market data, internal equity, and the role's current scope. Often the mid-range is where we tend to fall, but individual offers may vary based on experience, skills, and the role scope.

You Will:

  • Act as the subject matter expert on all things total rewards—delivering and supporting the design of compensation, benefits, and retirement offerings
  • Assess total rewards offerings and make recommendations for changes and enhancements to ensure that programs remain competitive to market.
  • Lead the coordination of specialized total rewards programs (e.g., open enrollment, options refreshers, annual compensation cycles, and international mobility needs).
  • Manage employee mobility cases end-to-end, applying policy consistently while balancing positive experiences for all stakeholders
  • Ensure work eligibility compliance across all operating geographies (e.g., SIN Tracking, I-9 Verification, right-to-work checks)
  • Work closely with vendors and carriers to resolve complex escalations and ensure timely and accurate payments and data submission.
  • Partner with relevant stakeholders to maintain compliance with audit standards and legislation; complete and submit required filings
  • Act as a cross-functional project member to support execution of various HR programs and initiatives.
  • Support—and sometimes lead—the design, development, and execution of various HR policies and processes.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to HR team members on operational processes and project work.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's or college's degree, preferably in business, HR, or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience in benefits, retirement, and compensation—with direct exposure to supporting these programs in the US and Canada
  • Experience working with global mobility considered a strong asset
  • A strong interest or experience in automation, AI, HR technology or process improvement—an ability to work "smarter" and focus on high-impact work.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to develop/update reports and modeling tools.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Benefits and Perks:

  • A great compensation package that includes BenchSci equity options
  • A robust vacation policy plus an additional vacation day every year
  • Company closures for 14 more days throughout the year
  • Flex time for sick days, personal days, and religious holidays
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits
  • Annual learning & development budget
  • A one-time home office set-up budget to use upon joining BenchSci
  • An annual lifestyle spending account allowance
  • Generous parental leave benefits with a top-up plan or paid time off options
  • The ability to save for your retirement coupled with a company match
