Martial Arts Instructor

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified Martial Arts Instructor to teach a youth Martial Arts & Self-Defense Program delivered in a school setting. This program is designed for children and focuses on physical conditioning, basic self-defense skills, and foundational martial arts techniques.

The program emphasizes safety, discipline, confidence-building, and age-appropriate instruction. This is not a competitive or combat-focused program, but a structured educational activity for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured, age-appropriate martial arts classes for children
  • Lead physical conditioning exercises (strength, flexibility, coordination)
  • Teach basic self-defense concepts and safety awareness
  • Introduce foundational martial arts movements (e.g. Taekwondo/Karate-style basics, Wushu fundamentals)
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment
  • Follow school policies and program guidelines
  • Communicate professionally with the program coordinator

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Background in martial arts instruction (Taekwondo/Karate, Wushu, or related disciplines)
  • Experience working with children or youth preferred
  • Ability to teach basic techniques clearly and safely
  • Strong sense of responsibility, patience, and professionalism
  • Must be comfortable teaching in a school environment
  • Valid background check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • First Aid / CPR certification is an asset

Schedule:

  • Fridays, 7:00–8:00 PM
  • January – June (school year program)
  • Location: Oshawa (school-based)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $80.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 per week

Work Location: In person
