About the Role
As a Content Marketing Specialist, you'll focus on the creation and delivery of high-quality, on-brand copy and content across various media (blog posts, social posts, email, video, guides, etc.) that drive results and engagement, and demonstrate empathy for the customer. Reporting to the Content Marketing Lead, you will use skills in content writing, editing, execution, and search optimization to support marketing campaigns and day-to-day content operations.
You will be a key player in shaping the FreshBooks narrative and ensuring consistency in our content. This role requires a collaborative mindset, keen attention to detail, a high level of organization, and the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging content.
NOTE: This role can be worked remotely from the above location. 
What You'll Do as a Content Marketing Specialist
In this role, you'll help bring our brand voice to life through thoughtful, engaging content that informs, inspires, and connects with our audience. You'll collaborate across teams to create meaningful stories and resources that showcase our products and help customers succeed.
Content production: Create a wide range of content, including blog posts, infographics, how-to guides, and video scripts that educate and inspire our audience.Audience insight: Develop a strong understanding of who our customers are, what motivates them, and how to reach them effectively. Keep a pulse on industry trends, competitor activity, and topics that resonate with our community.Content optimization: Work closely with SEO and Product Marketing to ensure every piece of content performs well and aligns with our broader messaging and goals.Content quality and brand stewardship: Uphold our brand voice and maintain a high standard of quality across all content. Participate in regular content reviews and audits to keep materials fresh and relevant.Project management and collaboration: Manage content requests efficiently and help refine processes that make content creation smoother and more scalable. Collaborate with designers, subject matter experts, and internal stakeholders to bring creative ideas to life.Performance and campaign support: Track content performance metrics, maintain the content calendar and library, and support cross-functional campaigns across multiple channels to ensure every piece delivers value and reaches the right audience at the right time.
What You'll Bring to the Role
3+ years of experience in content creation and execution, ideally within a B2B technology or SaaS environmentStrong writing, research, editing, and proofreading skills across both long-form and short-form contentA solid understanding of marketing funnel stages (awareness, consideration, decision, retention) and how to craft content that guides prospects through each stageExcellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, content streams, and deadlines at onceA collaborative mindset and comfort working across teams to bring ideas to life and deliver consistent messaging
You'll Stand Out If You Bring Experience InFamiliarity with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress; project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Asana, or Airtable; and SEO or analytics tools like Google Analytics, Ahrefs, or SurferExperience contributing to videos, infographics, or other visual-first content assetsExperience collaborating with freelance writers, agency partners, or using AI tools to efficiently scale content productionA few examples of your work that showcase your range and approach to content creation
