Job Summary

We are looking for an Assistant Store Manager for our Abbotsford ReStore

Reporting to the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager will be responsible for the daily merchandising and operations of the store and in the creation and maintenance of a cohesive team spirit within the store. The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in the execution of day-to-day tasks which involve customer service, sales, merchandising, processing, and pricing inventory, receiving donated goods, operating the POS system, eCommerce involvement, working with volunteers, and speaking to the greater cause of Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

· Maintains and grows overall retail sales through the adherence to pricing and sales policies and procedures and through the execution of merchandising the Restore to a high standard

· Provides superior customer service to ReStore clients and donors in the store, on the phone and by email.

· Ensures inventory is merchandised in a safe, timely and pleasing manner and that all product has been priced and prepared for sale in accordance with ReStore best practices while keeping in mind to discount, destroy or recycle slowly moving or damaged inventory regularly. Values and displays donations in a timely manner. Ensures values are uploaded to Vonigo and tax receipts are issued.

· Effectively manages volunteer and paid staff by determining the appropriate delegation of task, providing the corresponding leadership, training, supervision and feedback

· Follows processes and controls for the efficient operation of the ReStore.

· Ensures adherence to ReStore health and safety practices

· Responsible for the day-to-day management of the store's e-commerce responsibilities including:

o training staff to post items on the e-store and Facebook marketplace and ensuring minimum posting requirements are met; ensuring ReStore staff pick online orders within required timeframes, managing the order shipping process including collaborating with the ReStore fleet.

o Responsible for ensuring HFH's brand guidelines and best practices are followed in e-commerce product posts

o The ReStore Assistant manager is the main contact for e-commerce customers, providing online customers excellent customer service, reducing online returns and responding to customer feedback and reviews.

o Provides data to the E-Commerce manager for weekly reporting.

o Provides assistance in other ReStores when needed, including special projects and training.

o Monitors or ensures that the general store email account is monitored.

o Assists the ReStore Manager in determining the daily, weekly and monthly ReStore priorities and the appropriate allocation of resources between in-store and e-commerce activities to ensure sales are maximized and customer service levels are maintained

· Accurately creates cash floats and close out financial transactions daily.

· Acts as the liaison with donors of used and surplus home décor and building materials.

· Ability to expeditiously but tactfully filter unwanted materials from donations,

· Responsible for the general maintenance, cleanliness and security of the ReStore including management of the recycling programs and materials removal.

· Assists the Restore team with unloading large shipments of donations from the Restore and third party trucks

· Complies with all policies and procedures

· Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively.

· These are representative duties and responsibilities which are not all encompassing and may change from time to time.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

· Post-secondary education in business or a related field is an asset

· 2-5 years of experience in retail, home décor, building materials or related industry

· 2-5 years of experience in managing a team

· 2-5 years' experience in retail merchandising and display

· Forklift and First Aid certification is an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a collected and pleasant composure promoting an approachable and pleasant work and retail space.

· Appropriate understanding and effective management of different work forces to achieve maximum efficiency.

· Ability to handle tasks that require physical strength and endurance, such as lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.

· Strong capacity to multi-task.

· Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, teambuilding skills are an asset.

· Detail oriented, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Good dispute and conflict resolution skills.

· Strong understanding of health and safety requirements

· Open availability required to meet the scheduling needs of the ReStore. Will be required to work holidays and occasional shifts outside of regular business hours for events, training or special projects.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
